Match of the week: playing contenders for the "gold"

Perhaps the highlight of the week at the Open Championship of Tallinn Grandliga will be the match between "FC Baltika" and "FC Centurion" at the Punane stadium this Thursday.

Last year's champion began a new tournament quite confident, however, victories in first matches were gained with a small difference, not considering “technical win 3:0” against "GEP". The first major victory (6:2) "FC Baltika" won over "FC Olympic" only in the fifth round.

Then followed by the flash in the pan - draw against "TJK", and that game the champion finished playing with one less on the pitch after removing of Maksim Sergejev on 44th minute for the last hope foul. However, in the next match, "FC Baltika" scored against "USF" as many as nine goals, and forward Vladimir Tselnokov scored five times. 

"FC Centurion" is from the first rounds announced himself as one of the main contenders for the championship medals. The team show a very confident and mature football, winning five of the seven matches. Among defeated teams were "SK LPV" and "FC Liikuri", also based at the top of the championship standings. Moreover, in the match vs “FC Liikuri” "FC Centurion" inflicted a painful defeat with a big score 6-1. Today only “FC Kehra” (the game ended in a 1-1 draw) and "Docker" (0:0). were only able to take away points from “Centurion”.

The head of the club Mauro Caneglias says that for the upcoming game "FC Centurion", of course, will try to put the strongest team, although it is now known that on Thursday will not be able to play such important players for the team, as Valentin Ivanov and Roomet Saadi. 

His counterpart Dmitri Levshunov has not revealed all the cards, saying only that "FC Baltika" will put the optimal squad based on those players who will take part in the match. 

About each other contenders say out with cautious respect. So, Caneglias notes that “FC Baltika” is certainly worthy of respect because of their past results, and his team will not have an easy match. Levshunov says that "FC Centurion" this season put together a very experienced team with a good selection of players in each line. "They have not lost a single match, which automatically makes them contenders in the fight for the podium," - notes the head of "FC Baltika".

Herewith, Mauro Caneglias refrains from the forecast for the match, and his counterpart did not want to add any specifics. “Games with "FC Centurion" are always very persistent and complex, the team play disciplined, they attack with a large force and practically the entire team have time to return to its side when opponent posses a ball. Therefore, the game will be very difficult, "- said in conclusion Dmitri Levshunov.
